EPA Board Adopts Revised Code of Ethics
During the Fall 2024 meeting of the EPA Board of Directors, the board adopted a newly revised Code of Ethics. The board had earlier commissioned an ad hoc committee to review the association’s Code of Ethics which was last revised in 1998.
Timothy Morgan was appointed as the convener of the committee, which included Jon Hirst, Warren Smith, and Ann Byle. Morgan was also a member of the 1998 committee.
The committee was charged with incorporating the ethical and responsible use of AI in publishing, strengthening guidelines for author-publisher relationships, and reviewing the overall document to ensure relevance and conformity to current industry standards for ethics in journalism.
Agreement to observe and act according to the Code of Ethics is a requirement for membership in EPA.
