EPA Publications Invited to Apply for Journalism Grant Exploring Love

The Greater Good Science Center (GGSC) at UC Berkeley has announced a new opportunity for content creators: grants for nonfiction projects exploring the many dimensions of love. Supported by the John Templeton Foundation, this initiative will fund two dozen journalists and media producers with grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000.

These projects will go beyond romantic love to explore love as a profound commitment to another person’s well-being—a selfless act of care and connection. We welcome proposals for articles, videos, podcasts, social media campaigns, and other forms of media that examine love from diverse angles.

Faith-based and spiritual perspectives are acceptable, and proposals with a spiritual focus are welcomed. GGSC values diverse viewpoints and believes these approaches can bring meaningful insights to the theme.

Grantees will not only receive financial support but also access to leading scientific experts who will guide them in aligning their work with the science of love.

The application window opened January 7, 2025, and submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. PT on March 24, 2025. The grant period runs from September 1, 2025, to February 28, 2027.

The grants are part of the GGSC’s “Spreading Love Through the Media” project.
